Logan, UT (10/28/2008) -- Cache Valley Transit District’s Board of Trustees convened for their annual planning session in October to develop new short-
and long-term goals, concerning CVTD’s growth and operations within Cache Valley. As an entity independent of county and city governments, Cache Valley Transit’s Board
meets each year to plan for the needs of the transit system and valley citizens.
Mark Daines, President for the Board of Trustees said the focus of the Board was to develop short and long term goals that would maintain a balance between economic
needs, environmental issues and growth within the system.
Daines said, "Cache Valley Transit’s Board understands the impact it can have upon a community, and therefore, develops goals to keep Cache Valley’s system accessible
to all citizens." To reach such goals, the board has already begun initiating a plan to expand infrastructure, and in the future, extend service beyond Cache Valley to
connect with other systems, such as the Utah Transit Authority buses and rail.
Other notable goals for 2009, are those aimed at maintaining its service record to remain in the top 25% of the country for safety, improving monitoring and security on
the buses, educating the public about the benefits of mass transit, modify routes that are less efficient, run cleaner-burning vehicles on its roads, and working with
other governments to develop transportation alternatives.
Throughout the year assessments are made of performance as compared to goals; this helps the Cache Valley Transit District stay in-tune with the needs of the valley.
The board provides direction and vision to the management team, which will promote the most growth and quality service.
As 2009 approaches, CVTD’s board is working to integrate the last phases of 2008 goals into the next year's initiatives. Each year may bring a new set of goals, but
the vision the board has for Cache Valley Transit District remains the same--that they want to "become the premier public transportation agency serving the Cache Valley
Region, with excellence and the highest quality of service."
