CVTD TO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION TO FAIR
Logan, Utah (08/04/2008) - Cache Valley Transit District will be providing transportation to and from the fairgrounds during the Cache County Fair August 7-9. Last year was the first
time CVTD provided transportation to Cache County Fairgrounds specifically for fair-goers, and the service was well-received.
Lisa Peterson of Cache Valley Transit District said that it went so well last year, the county and CVTD decided to team up again for this year’s festivities. "We really feel like this service provides
citizens with more time to enjoy the fair and less time to worry about parking and walking. With buses coming to designated stops approximately every 10 minutes, riders will have quick and easy access to
the fairgrounds." Since ridership on the buses is already up this summer, CVTD is planning on an increased ridership for this year’s event as well.
Cache County Council member, Brian Chambers, said that having the bus run during this event, as well as on a daily basis will help to alleviate traffic and parking congestion. "I don’t think you would
be hard-pressed to find supporters of what the Cache Valley Transit District is doing," he said. "I know of many people who use the bus everyday to save gas, time and money."
One example Chambers gave was of his close friend Chad Downs, mayor of Smithfield, who rides the bus every work day from home to work at the Utah State University College of Education. Chambers
said, "He tells me that the bus is standing room only when he rides to work and home, but that it has always been a wonderful arrangement for him. The number of riders just keeps increasing. I think the
CVTD is such a positive system for this valley, and it was a very easy vote for me to cast when the decision was being made years ago."
The CVTD buses will start and end their route at the Logan Transit Center, making stops at the Logan Post Office and Logan Aquatics Center along the way. There will be a Cache County Fair sign posted
at each designated stop, and citizens are encouraged to park and ride to this event next week. Operations times are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Cache Valley Transit District will also be changing routes beginning August 25, and so, they invite members of the community to come to their fair booth and ask questions or make suggestions
concerning the new transit routes.
