FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CVTD NEW BUSES MEET EPA STANDARDS

January 4, 2011 - The Cache Valley Transit District recently received 5 new Gillig buses, 3, 40 foot commuters and 2, 35 foot hybrid buses and will receive 1 additional hybrid bus in the spring of 2011.  CVTD operates buses that meet or exceed the emission standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The Hybrid is powered by a clean diesel hybrid electrical propulsion system. It helps to reduce emissions, saves on fuel and is smoother and quieter than a conventional bus with large access doors. The hybrid buses perform best in hilly or low speed areas and therefore are planned to operate mainly on City routes.

The 40 foot Low Floor design is built for corridor routes and will be primarily used for Cache Valley North and South routes and service to Idaho.  It has a higher capacity of seating and has a strong reputation of customer satisfaction.

All CVTD buses are equipped with security cameras, monitors, HVAC, and are wheelchair accessible.  The new buses are scheduled to be on route in January 2011.
