CACHE VALLEY TRANSIT DISTRICT TO
TAKE OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE IN-HOUSE

After months of research The Cache Valley Transit District's Board of Trustees voted to take contracted services, currently being provided by First Transit, in-house. The unanimous decision was recently made amongst 19 board members.

Speaking on the decision CVTD Board President Mark Daines, said, "By taking the operations and maintenance in house, CVTD is better positioned to accomplish the Board’s vision of providing progressive leadership for the region’s transportations needs."

Through this move CVTD enhances the integration of management and operations. "This allows us to streamline our organization so that our performance and services to our valued riders continues to improve as it has in the past," added Todd Beutler CVTD General Manager.

The tentative date for the transition is August 1, 2009. The transition will have no affect on routes or services that are currently provided by CVTD.

Every effort is being made by CVTD to make this transition as smooth and seamless as possible for all employees of both organizations. All of the First Transit employees will be given the opportunity to continue in their current positions as CVTD employees.
